Cookie information
The short version: no cookie is set here at all. One entry is kept in your browser's local storage, and only after you press a button. One script from Cloudflare runs on every page and stores nothing. Everything below explains that in full.
1. Why this page is short
PuzzleRead is a set of static pages: text, a stylesheet, one small script and some pictures. The typefaces, pictures and script all come from this domain; there is no advertising, no social plug-in, no video embed and no chat widget, so none of the cookies those normally bring is here either. One thing does come from elsewhere: Cloudflare, Inc. delivers these pages and adds a measurement script of its own to each one as it is served. It is listed in section 2, and it sets no cookie.

That is the complete list, and no cookie appears in it: a browser inspector opened on this domain shows an empty cookie store.
3. What pressing Accept or Decline actually does
Both buttons do the same single thing: they write one word into the pr:noticeAck entry and hide the notice. Nothing about your choice is sent anywhere and no further script is loaded. The Cloudflare script in the table runs either way, because it is inserted as the page is delivered and the publisher cannot switch it off from the page. The buttons exist so that the notice can be dismissed honestly, not because a tracker is waiting behind one of them.
4. What is not used here
- No cookie at all, first party or third party.
- No advertising, retargeting or audience-building script.
- No social network button or embedded feed.
- No browser notification service; permission is never requested.
- No cross-site identifier, fingerprinting script or device profile — the Cloudflare script in section 2 gives you no identifier and does not follow you to another site.
The publisher adds no counter, tag manager or measurement tool of her own on top of the Cloudflare script. What that script reports, how long Cloudflare keeps it and why the United States is involved are set out in section 4.3 and section 6 of the privacy notice.
5. Removing what is stored
Clearing site data for puzzleread.com removes the local storage entry. In Chrome and Edge it sits under Settings, Privacy and security, Third-party cookies, See all site data. In Firefox it is Settings, Privacy & Security, Cookies and Site Data, Manage Data. In Safari it is Settings, Privacy, Manage Website Data. Private browsing discards the entry when the window closes. Nothing stops working afterwards; the notice simply appears again on your next visit.
